I again offer my respectful obeisances unto the form of complete existence and transcendence, who is the liberator of the pious devotees from all distresses and the destroyer of the further advances in atheistic temperament of the nondevotee-demons. For the transcendentalists who are situated in the topmost spiritual perfection, He grants their specific destinations. The Process of Creation |
| SB 2.4.13 |
To create different planetary systems I had to undergo austerities and penance, and the Lord, thus being pleased with me, incarnated in four sanas [Sanaka, SanatkumÄra, Sanandana and SanÄtana]. In the previous creation the spiritual truth was devastated, but the four sanas explained it so nicely that the truth at once became clearly perceived by the sages. Scheduled Incarnations with Specific Functions |
| SB 2.7.5 |
The Personality of Godhead is the supreme master of everything auspicious because the results of whatever actions are performed by the living being, in either the material or spiritual existence, are awarded by the Lord. As such, He is the ultimate benefactor. Every individual living entity is unborn, and therefore even after the annihilation of the material elementary body, the living entity exists, exactly like the air within the body. Scheduled Incarnations with Specific Functions |
| SB 2.7.49 |
O Vasu, I know from within your mind what you desired in the days of yore when the Vasus and other demigods responsible for expanding the universal affairs performed sacrifices. You particularly desired to achieve My association. This is very difficult for others to obtain, but I award it unto you. Vidura Approaches Maitreya |
| SB 3.4.11 |
O my Lord, Your devotees can see You through the ears by the process of bona fide hearing, and thus their hearts become cleansed, and You take Your seat there. You are so merciful to Your devotees that You manifest Yourself in the particular eternal form of transcendence in which they always think of You. Brahma's Prayers for Creative Energy |
| SB 3.9.11 |
My Lord, You are not very much satisfied by the worship of the demigods, who arrange for Your worship very pompously, with various paraphernalia, but who are full of material hankerings. You are situated in everyone’s heart as the Supersoul just to show Your causeless mercy, and You are the eternal well-wisher, but You are unavailable for the nondevotee. Brahma's Prayers for Creative Energy |
| SB 3.9.12 |
The Supreme Personality of Godhead is all-pervading, but He is also manifested in different types of bodies which arise from a combination of material nature, time, desires and occupational duties. Thus different types of consciousness develop, just as fire, which is always basically the same, blazes in different ways according to the shape and dimension of firewood. Instructions by Maharaja Prithu |
| SB 4.21.35 |
A rope causes fear for a bewildered person who considers it a snake, but not for a person with proper intelligence who knows it to be only a rope. Similarly, You, as the Supersoul in everyone’s heart, inspire fear or fearlessness according to one’s intelligence, but in You there is no duality. Appearance of the Demon Vritrasura |
| SB 6.9.37 |
Persons who fully surrender at the lotus feet of the Supreme Personality of Godhead and always think of His lotus feet are accepted and recognized by the Lord as His own personal assistants or servants. The Lord never bestows upon such servants the brilliant opulences of the upper, lower and middle planetary systems of this material world. When one possesses material opulence in any of these three divisions of the universe, his possessions naturally increase his enmity, anxiety, mental agitation, pride and belligerence. Thus one goes through much endeavor to increase and maintain his possessions, and he suffers great unhappiness when he loses them. The Transcendental Qualities of Vritrasura |
| SB 6.11.22 |
Unlike an ordinary living entity, my Lord, You do not discriminate between friends and enemies, the favorable and the unfavorable, because for You there is no conception of higher and lower. Nonetheless, You offer Your benedictions according to the level of one’s service, exactly as a desire tree delivers fruits according to one’s desires and makes no distinction between the lower and the higher. Prahlada Pacifies Lord Nrisimhadeva with Prayers |
| SB 7.9.27 |
O my Lord, I am Your unmotivated servant, and You are my eternal master. There is no need of our being anything other than master and servant. You are naturally my master, and I am naturally Your servant. We have no other relationship. Prahlada, the Best Among Exalted Devotees |
| SB 7.10.6 |
The place, the time, the cause, the purpose, the activity and the ambition were all the same for both the demigods and the demons, but the demigods achieved one result and the demons another. Because the demigods are always under the shelter of the dust of the Lord’s lotus feet, they could very easily drink the nectar and get its result. The demons, however, not having sought shelter at the lotus feet of the Lord, were unable to achieve the result they desired. The Lord Incarnates as Mohini-Murti |
| SB 8.9.28 |
O son of Marīci, because you are a great personality you are equal toward all the demons and demigods, who are born either from your body or from your mind and who possess one or another of the three qualities — sattva-guṇa, rajo-guṇa or tamo-guṇa. But although the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the supreme controller, is equal toward all living entities, He is especially favorable to the devotees. Executing the Payo-vrata Process of Worship |
| SB 8.16.14 |
The glories of the Supreme Personality of Godhead are studied through the three Vedas, the Upaniá¹£ads, the literature of SÄá¹…khya-yoga, and other Vaiṣṇava literature, yet mother YaÅ›odÄ considered that Supreme Person her ordinary child. Lord Krishna Shows the Universal Form Within His Mouth |
| SB 10.8.45 |
The Supreme Personality of Godhead, Kṛṣṇa, the son of mother YaÅ›odÄ, is accessible to devotees engaged in spontaneous loving service, but He is not as easily accessible to mental speculators, to those striving for self-realization by severe austerities and penances, or to those who consider the body the same as the self. Mother Yasoda Binds Lord Lord Krishna |
| SB 10.9.21 |
Kṛṣṇa, who was the father of Lord BrahmÄ but who was acting as the son of a cowherd man, became like fire, burning the root of the demon’s throat, and the demon BakÄsura immediately disgorged Him. When the demon saw that Kṛṣṇa, although having been swallowed, was unharmed, he immediately attacked Kṛṣṇa again with his sharp beak. The Childhood Pastimes of Krishna |
| SB 10.11.50 |
A man blinded by intoxication with his power and opulence cannot see Me nearby with the rod of punishment in My hand. If I desire his real welfare, I drag him down from his materially fortunate position. Lord Indra and Mother Surabhi Offer Prayers |
| SB 10.27.16 |
With various intentions, You perform pastimes to maintain the demigods, the saintly persons and the codes of religion for this world. By these pastimes You also kill those who stray from the right path and live by violence. Indeed, your present incarnation is meant to relieve the earth’s burden. Lord Krishna Fights with Banasura |
| SB 10.63.27 |
An intermediate or second-class devotee, called madhyama-adhikÄrÄ«, offers his love to the Supreme Personality of Godhead, is a sincere friend to all the devotees of the Lord, shows mercy to ignorant people who are innocent and disregards those who are envious of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Maharaja Nimi Meets the Nine Yogendras |
| SB 11.2.46 |
The Supreme Personality of Godhead said: My dear Uddhava, because I desire that human beings may achieve perfection, I have presented three paths of advancement — the path of knowledge, the path of work and the path of devotion. Besides these three there is absolutely no other means of elevation. Pure Devotional Service Surpasses Knowledge and Detachment |
| SB 11.20.6 |
“ ‘In whatever way My devotees surrender unto Me, I reward them accordingly. Everyone follows My path in all respects, O son of Pá¹›thÄ.’ The Confidential Reasons for the Appearance of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu |
| CC 1.4.20 |
“In whatever way My devotees surrender unto Me, I reward them accordingly. Everyone follows My path in all respects, O son of Pá¹›thÄ.†The Confidential Reasons for the Appearance of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu |
| CC 1.4.178 |
“You have made ÅšrÄ«vÄsa ṬhÄkura appear to have been worshiping the goddess BhavÄnÄ«. Simply for this offense, you will have to fall down into hellish life for ten million births. The Pastimes of Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu in His Youth |
| CC 1.17.52 |
The ideal place to execute Kṛṣṇa consciousness is VrajabhÅ«mi, or Vá¹›ndÄvana, where the people are naturally inclined to love Kṛṣṇa and Kṛṣṇa is naturally inclined to love them. Sri Madhavendra Puri's Devotional Service |
| CC 2.4.95 |
Then both the Lord and His servant began to cry in ecstatic love. Indeed, the Lord was transformed by the qualities of His servant, and the servant was transformed by the qualities of his master. The Beda-kirtana Pastimes of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu |
| CC 2.11.187 |
“ ‘In different Vedic scriptures, there are prescribed rules and regulative principles for worshiping different types of forms. When one is purified by these rules and regulations, he worships You, the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Although manifested in many forms, You are one.’ Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu Instructs Sanatana Gosvami in the Science of the Absolute Truth |
| CC 2.20.173 |
ÅšrÄ« Caitanya MahÄprabhu replied, “I met ÅšrÄ«la RÅ«pa GosvÄmÄ« at PrayÄga. He attracted and satisfied Me because of his qualities.†Srila Rupa Gosvami's Second Meeting With the Lord |
| CC 3.1.197 |
In the Å›Ästra it is said that of all types of fruitive workers, he who is advanced in knowledge of the higher values of life is favored by the Supreme Lord Hari. Out of many such people who are advanced in knowledge [jñÄnÄ«s], one who is practically liberated by virtue of his knowledge may take to devotional service. He is superior to the others. However, one who has actually attained prema, pure love of Kṛṣṇa, is superior to him. The gopÄ«s are exalted above all the advanced devotees because they are always totally dependent upon ÅšrÄ« Kṛṣṇa, the transcendental cowherd boy. Among the gopÄ«s, ÅšrÄ«matÄ« RÄdhÄrÄṇī is the most dear to Kṛṣṇa. Her kuṇá¸a [lake] is as profoundly dear to Lord Kṛṣṇa as this most beloved of the gopÄ«s. Who, then, will not reside at RÄdhÄ-kuṇá¸a and, in a spiritual body surcharged with ecstatic devotional feelings [aprÄká¹›ta-bhÄva], render loving service to the Divine Couple ÅšrÄ« ÅšrÄ« RÄdhÄ-Govinda, who perform Their aá¹£á¹a-kÄlÄ«ya-lÄ«lÄ, Their eternal eightfold daily pastimes. Indeed, those who execute devotional service on the banks of RÄdhÄ-kuṇá¸a are the most fortunate people in the universe. Nectar of Instruction |
| NoI 10 |
I adore the primeval Lord Govinda, the meditators of whom, by meditating upon Him under the sway of wrath, amorous passion, natural friendly love, fear, parental affection, delusion, reverence and willing service, attain to bodily forms befitting the nature of their contemplation. |
| BS bs.55 |
The Supreme Lord walks and does not walk. He is far away, but He is very near as well. He is within everything, and yet He is outside of everything. Sri Isopanishad |
| Iso 5 |
O mind, think of the lotus-eyed Lord who reclines on the mountainlike serpent Ananta. O tongue, glorify Him. O head, bow down to Him. O hands, join your palms in supplication to Him. O body, offer outstretched obeisances to Him. O heart, take full shelter of Him. That Supreme Lord is the topmost Deity. It is He alone who is all-auspicious and supremely purifying, He alone who awards eternal perfection. Mukunda-mala-stotra |
