yat vā–If indeed; (vayam)–we; jayema–win; yadi vā–or if; (ete)–these men; naḥ jayeyuḥ–happen to conquer us; na cha vidmaḥ–we do not understand; etat katarat–which of these; garīyaḥ–is more beneficial; naḥ–for us. te dhārtarāṣṭrāḥ–Those very sons of Dhṛtarāṣṭra; yān hatvā–by killing whom; na jijīviṣāmaḥ eva–we do not wish to even live; avasthitāḥ–are present; pramukhe–before us for battle. I cannot understand which will be better—victory or defeat; for if we kill the sons of Dhṛtarāṣṭra, who now stand before us on the battlefront, we shall not wish to live.
