vivikta-sevÄ« laghv-Äśī yata-vÄk-kÄya-mÄnasaḥ dhyÄna-yoga-paro nityaá¹ vairÄgyaá¹ samupÄÅ›ritaḥ [52]
ahaá¹…kÄraá¹ balaá¹ darpaá¹ kÄmaá¹ krodhaá¹ parigraham vimuchya nirmamaḥ Å›Änto brahma-bhÅ«yÄya kalpate [53]
yuktaḥ (san)–A person possessing; viÅ›uddhayÄ buddhyÄ–intelligence of the nature of goodness; niyamya cha–and controlling; ÄtmÄnam– the mind; dhá¹›tyÄ–through determination of the nature of goodness; tyaktvÄ–rejecting; viá¹£ayÄn–the sense objects; Å›abdÄdÄ«n–of sound, touch, etc.; vyudasya cha–abandoning; rÄga-dveá¹£au–attachment and aversion—likes and dislikes; vivikta-sevī–remaining free from the association of materialistic persons; laghu-Äśī–a temperate eater; yata-vÄk-kÄya-mÄnasaḥ–disciplining the body, mind, and speech; nityam– and constantly; dhyÄna-yoga-paraḥ–absorbed in meditation on the Supreme Lord; vairÄgyam samupÄÅ›ritah–fully detached from the mundane; vimuchya–giving up; ahaá¹…kÄram–ego—considering oneself ‘the doer’; balam–power; darpam–vanity; kÄmam–desire; krodham–anger; parigraham–possessiveness; Å›Äntaḥ–being at peace; nirmamaḥ–not thinking of anything as ‘mine’; kalpate–is qualified; brahma-bhÅ«yÄya–for spiritual realisation. [51–53].
