तदद्य नः पापमुपैत्यनन्वयं यन्नष्टनाथस्य वसोर्विलुम्पकात् ।
परस्परं घ्नन्ति शपन्ति वृञ्जते पशून्स्त्रियोऽर्थान्पुरुदस्यवो जनाः ॥४४॥

tad adya naḥ pÄpam upaity ananvayaá¹
yan naṣṭa-nÄthasya vasor vilumpakÄt
parasparaṠghnanti śapanti vṛñjate
paśūn striyo 'rthÄn puru-dasyavo janÄḥ


Text

The sin, though it is unrelated to us, arising from theft of wealth from people without a protector, will affect us at that time. The crowd of thieves will kill each other, curse each other and steal from each other animals, women and wealth.

Purport

The wealth of the people who are without a protector (nasta-nathasya) will be stolen. Because of this theft, sin will arise. Because of that sin, even though unrelated to us, (ananvayam) we also will enter into sin. The sin is shown. They will kill each other, curse each other, and steal from each other (vrnjate) animals, women and wealth.
