te 'nvasajjanta rājanyā

niṣeddhuḿ pathi kecana

saḿyattā uddhṛteṣv-āsā

grāma-siḿhā yathā harim

te -- they; anvasajjanta -- followed from behind; rajanyah -- the kings; nisheddhum -- to check Him; pathi -- on the path; kecana -- some of them; samyattah -- ready; uddhrita -- raised; ishu-asah -- whose bows; grama-simha -- "lions of the village" (dogs); yatha -- as; harim -- a lion.


Texto

The kings pursued the Lord like village dogs chasing a lion. Some kings, raising their bows, stationed themselves on the road to stop Him as He passed by.
