sa puá¹£kareṇoddhá¹›ta-śīkarÄmbubhir
nipÄyayan saá¹snapayan yathÄ gá¹›hÄ«
ghṛṇī kareṇuḥ karabhÄmÅ› ca durmado
nÄcaá¹£á¹a ká¹›cchraá¹ ká¹›paṇo 'ja-mÄyayÄ
saḥ - he (the leader of the elephants); puá¹£kareṇa - with his trunk; uddhá¹›ta - by drawing out; śīkara-ambubhiḥ - and sprinkling the water; nipÄyayan - causing them to drink; saá¹snapayan - and bathing them; yathÄ - as; gá¹›hÄ« - a householder; ghṛṇī - always kind (to the members of his family); kareṇuḥ - to his wives, the female elephants; karabhÄn - to the children; ca - as well as; durmadaḥ - who is too attached to the members of his family; na - not; Äcaá¹£á¹a - considered; ká¹›cchram - hardship; ká¹›paṇaḥ - being without spiritual knowledge; aja-mÄyayÄ - because of the influence of the external, illusory energy of the Supreme Personality of Godhead.
