माधावतो निर्विविशेऽसुरेन्द्र ।
श्वासानिलान्तर्हितसूक्ष्मदेह
स्तत्प्राणरन्ध्रेण विविग्नचेताः ॥१०॥
evaṠsa niścitya ripoḥ śarīram
ÄdhÄvato nirviviÅ›e 'surendra
Å›vÄsÄnilÄntarhita-sÅ«ká¹£ma-dehas
tat-prÄṇa-randhreṇa vivigna-cetÄḥ
evam - in this way; saḥ - He (Lord Viṣṇu); niÅ›citya - deciding; ripoḥ - of the enemy; Å›arÄ«ram - the body; ÄdhÄvataḥ - who was running after Him with great force; nirviviÅ›e - entered; asura-indra - O King of the demons (MahÄrÄja Bali); Å›vÄsa-anila - through the breathing; antarhita - invisible; sÅ«ká¹£ma-dehaḥ - in his finer body; tat-prÄṇa-randhreṇa - through the hole of the nostril; vivigna-cetÄḥ - being very anxious.
Lord VÄmanadeva continued: O King of the demons, after Lord Viṣṇu made this decision, He entered the body of His enemy HiraṇyakaÅ›ipu, who was running after Him with great force. In a subtle body inconceivable to HiraṇyakaÅ›ipu, Lord Viṣṇu, who was in great anxiety, entered HiraṇyakaÅ›ipu’s nostril along with his breath.
The Supreme Personality of Godhead is already in the core of everyone’s heart. Ä«Å›varaḥ sarva-bhÅ«tÄnÄá¹ há¹›d-deÅ›e ’rjuna tiá¹£á¹hati (Bg. 18.61). Logically, therefore, it was not at all difficult for Lord Viṣṇu to enter HiraṇyakaÅ›ipu’s body. The word vivigna-cetÄḥ, “very anxious,†is significant. It is not that Lord Viṣṇu was afraid of HiraṇyakaÅ›ipu; rather, because of compassion, Lord Viṣṇu was in anxiety about how to act for his welfare.
