तस्योपनीयमानस्य सावित्रीं सविताब्रवीत् ।
बृहस्पतिर्ब्रह्मसूत्रं मेखलां कश्यपोऽददात् ॥१४॥

tasyopanÄ«yamÄnasya
sÄvitrÄ«á¹ savitÄbravÄ«t
bá¹›haspatir brahma-sÅ«traá¹
mekhalÄá¹ kaÅ›yapo 'dadÄt

 tasya - of Lord VÄmanadeva; upanÄ«yamÄnasya - at the time of His being offered the sacred thread ceremony; sÄvitrÄ«m - the GÄyatrÄ« mantra; savitÄ - the sun-god; abravÄ«t - chanted; bá¹›haspatiḥ - Bá¹›haspati, the guru of the demigods; brahma-sÅ«tram - the sacred thread; mekhalÄm - the belt of straw; kaÅ›yapaḥ - KaÅ›yapa Muni; adadÄt - offered.

At the sacred thread ceremony of VÄmanadeva, the sun-god personally uttered the GÄyatrÄ« mantra, Bá¹›haspati offered the sacred thread, and KaÅ›yapa Muni offered a straw belt.
