श्रीशुक उवाच
भगवत्पुरुषै राजन्याम्याः प्रतिहतोद्यमाः ।
पतिं विज्ञापयामासुर्यमं संयमनीपतिम् ॥३॥

Å›rÄ«-Å›uka uvÄca
bhagavat-puruá¹£ai rÄjan
yÄmyÄḥ pratihatodyamÄḥ
patiá¹ vijñÄpayÄm Äsur
yamaá¹ saá¹yamanÄ«-patim

 Å›rÄ«-Å›ukaḥ uvÄca - Åšukadeva GosvÄmÄ« said; bhagavat-puruá¹£aiḥ - by the order carriers of the Lord, the ViṣṇudÅ«tas; rÄjan - O King; yÄmyÄḥ - the order carriers of YamarÄja; pratihata-udyamÄḥ - whose efforts were defeated; patim - their master; vijñÄpayÄm Äsuḥ - informed; yamam - YamarÄja; saá¹yamanÄ«-patim - the master of the city Saá¹yamanÄ«.

ÅšrÄ« Åšukadeva GosvÄmÄ« replied: My dear King, when the order carriers of YamarÄja were baffled and defeated by the order carriers of Viṣṇu, they approached their master, the controller of Saá¹yamanÄ«-purÄ« and master of sinful persons, to tell him of this incident.
