तं च ब्रह्मर्षयोऽभ्येत्य हयमेधेन भारत ।
यथावद्दीक्षयां चक्रुः पुरुषाराधनेन ह ॥१८॥

 tam - him (Lord Indra); ca - and; brahma-ṛṣayaḥ - the great saints and brÄhmaṇas; abhyetya - approaching; hayamedhena - with an aÅ›vamedha sacrifice; bhÄrata - O King ParÄ«ká¹£it; yathÄvat - according to the rules and regulations; dÄ«ká¹£ayÄm cakruḥ - initiated; puruá¹£a-ÄrÄdhanena - which consists of worship of the Supreme Person, Hari; ha - indeed.

O King, when Lord Indra reached the heavenly planets, the saintly brÄhmaṇas approached him and properly initiated him into a horse sacrifice [aÅ›vamedha-yajña] meant to please the Supreme Lord.
