Å›rÄ«-Å›ukaḥ uvÄca - ÅšrÄ« Åšukadeva GosvÄmÄ« said; yaḥ - which; eá¹£aḥ - this dynasty; uttÄnapadaḥ - of King UttÄnapÄda; mÄnavasya - the son of SvÄyambhuva Manu; anuvarṇitaḥ - described, following in the footprints of previous ÄcÄryas; vamÅ›aḥ - dynasty; priyavratasya - of King Priyavrata; api - also; nibodha - try to understand; ná¹›pa-sattama - O best of kings.
Dhruva MahÄrÄja was the son of King UttÄnapÄda, and as far as the descendants of Dhruva MahÄrÄja or King UttÄnapÄda are concerned, their activities have been described up to the point of the PracetÄs. Now ÅšrÄ« Åšukadeva GosvÄmÄ« desires to describe the descendants of MahÄrÄja Priyavrata, the second son of SvÄyambhuva Manu.
