vá¹›kṇe sva-śūle bahudhÄriá¹‡Ä hareḥ
pratyetya vistīrṇam uro vibhūtimat
pravá¹›ddha-roá¹£aḥ sa kaá¹hora-muá¹£á¹inÄ
nadan prahá¹›tyÄntaradhÄ«yatÄsuraḥ
vá¹›kṇe - when cut; sva-śūle - his trident; bahudhÄ - to many pieces; ariá¹‡Ä - by the SudarÅ›ana cakra; hareḥ - of the Supreme Personality of Godhead; pratyetya - after advancing toward; vistÄ«rṇam - broad; uraḥ - chest; vibhÅ«ti-mat - the abode of the goddess of fortune; pravá¹›ddha - having been increased; roá¹£aḥ - anger; saḥ - HiraṇyÄká¹£a; kaá¹hora - hard; muá¹£á¹inÄ - with his fist; nadan - roaring; prahá¹›tya - after striking; antaradhÄ«yata - disappeared; asuraḥ - the demon.
ÅšrÄ«vatsa is a curl of white hair on the chest of the Lord which is a special sign of His being the Supreme Personality of Godhead. In Vaikuṇá¹haloka or in Goloka Vá¹›ndÄvana, the inhabitants are exactly of the same form as the Personality of Godhead, but by this ÅšrÄ«vatsa mark on the chest of the Lord He is distinguished from all others.
