स्वपौरुषे प्रतिहते हतमानो महासुरः ।
नैच्छद्गदां दीयमानां हरिणा विगतप्रभः ॥१२॥

sva-pauruá¹£e pratihate
hata-mÄno mahÄsuraḥ
naicchad gadÄá¹ dÄ«yamÄnÄá¹
hariá¹‡Ä vigata-prabhaḥ

 sva-pauruá¹£e - his valor; pratihate - frustrated; hata - destroyed; mÄnaḥ - pride; mahÄ-asuraḥ - the great demon; na aicchat - desired not (to take); gadÄm - the mace; dÄ«yamÄnÄm - being offered; hariá¹‡Ä - by Hari; vigata-prabhaḥ - reduced in splendor.


Text

His valor thus frustrated, the great demon felt humiliated and was put out of countenance. He was reluctant to take back the mace when it was offered by the Personality of Godhead.
