vÄlakhilyÄḥ sahasrÄṇi
á¹£aṣṭir brahmará¹£ayo 'malÄḥ
purato 'bhimukhaá¹ yÄnti
stuvanti stutibhir vibhum

 vÄlakhilyÄḥ - the VÄlakhilyas; sahasrÄṇi - thousands; á¹£aṣṭiḥ - sixty; brahma-ṛṣayaḥ - great sages among the brÄhmaṇas; amalÄḥ - pure; purataḥ - in front; abhimukham - facing the chariot; yÄnti - they go; stuvanti - they offer praise; stutibhiḥ - with Vedic prayers; vibhum - to the almighty lord.

Facing the chariot, the sixty thousand brÄhmaṇa sages known as VÄlakhilyas travel in front and offer prayers to the almighty sun-god with Vedic mantras.
