 Å›uá¹…gam - the Åšuá¹…ga king; hatvÄ - killing; devabhÅ«tim - DevabhÅ«ti; kÄṇvaḥ - the member of the KÄṇva family; amÄtyaḥ - his minister; tu - but; kÄminam - lusty; svayam - himself; kariá¹£yate - will execute; rÄjyam - the rulership; vasudevaḥ - named Vasudeva; mahÄ-matiḥ - very intelligent.

Vasudeva, an intelligent minister coming from the KÄṇva family, will kill the last of the Åšuá¹…ga kings, a lusty debauchee named DevabhÅ«ti, and assume rulership himself.

Apparently, because King DevabhÅ«ti was lusty after the wives of other men, his minister killed him, assuming leadership and thus beginning the KÄṇva dynasty.
