madhye bhÄntÄ«á¹ sa vismitaḥ
patnÄ«m - his wife; vÄ«ká¹£ya - seeing; visphurantÄ«m - appearing effulgent; devÄ«m - a demigoddess; vaimÄnikÄ«m - come in a heavenly airplane; iva - as if; dÄsÄ«nÄm - of maidservants; niá¹£ka - lockets; kaṇá¹hÄ«nÄm - on whose necks; madhye - in the midst; bhÄntÄ«m - shining; saḥ - he; vismitaḥ - amazed.
SudÄmÄ was amazed to see his wife. Shining forth in the midst of maidservants adorned with jeweled lockets, she looked as effulgent as a demigoddess in her celestial airplane.
ÅšrÄ«la ViÅ›vanÄtha CakravartÄ« explains that up to now the Supreme Lord had kept the brÄhmaṇa in his wretched state so that his wife could recognize him.
