ciram - for a long time; naḥ - us; pÄhi - please protect; dÄÅ›Ärha - O descendant of DaÅ›Ärha; sa - together with; anujaḥ - Your younger brother; jagat - of the universe; īśvaraḥ - the Lord; iti - thus saying; Äropya - raising; aá¹…kam - onto their laps; Äliá¹…gya - embracing; netraiḥ - from their eyes; siá¹£icatuḥ - they moistened; jalaiḥ - with the water.
ÅšrÄ«la JÄ«va GosvÄmÄ« comments on this verse as follows: “Nanda and YaÅ›odÄ prayed to ÅšrÄ« BalarÄma, ‘May You, along with Your younger brother, protect us.’ Thus they expressed their respect for the fact that He is the elder brother, and they also showed how much they considered Him their own son.â€
