gá¹›hÄd anapagaá¹ vÄ«ká¹£ya
rÄja-putryo 'cyutaá¹ sthitam
preá¹£á¹haá¹ nyamaá¹sata svaá¹ svaá¹
na tat-tattva-vidaḥ striyaḥ
gá¹›hÄt - from their palaces; anapagam - never going out; vÄ«ká¹£ya - seeing; rÄja-putryaḥ - daughters of kings; acyutam - Lord Kṛṣṇa; sthitam - remaining; preá¹£á¹ham - most dear; nyamaá¹sata - they considered; svam svam - each their own; na - not; tat - about Him; tattva - the truth; vidaḥ - knowing; striyaḥ - the women.
ÅšrÄ«la ViÅ›vanÄtha CakravartÄ« ṬhÄkura notes that Lord Kṛṣṇa would leave the palaces only with the permission of His wives, and thus each one considered herself His favorite.
