tapaḥ-Å›raddhÄ-yuto dhÄ«ro
niḥsaṅgo mukta-samśayaḥ
samÄdhÄya manaḥ kṛṣṇe
prÄviÅ›ad gandhamÄdanam
tapaḥ - in austerities; Å›raddhÄ - faith; yutaḥ - having; dhÄ«raḥ - serious; niḥsaá¹…gaḥ - detached from material association; mukta - freed; samÅ›ayaḥ - of doubts; samÄdhÄya - fixing in trance; manaḥ - his mind; kṛṣṇe - upon Lord Kṛṣṇa; prÄviÅ›at - he entered upon; gandhamÄdanam - the mountain known as GandhamÄdana.
The sober King, beyond material association and free of doubt, was convinced of the value of austerity. Absorbing his mind in Lord Kṛṣṇa, he came to GandhamÄdana Mountain.
The name GandhamÄdana indicates a place of delightful fragrances. Undoubtedly GandhamÄdana was filled with the aroma of wild flowers and forest honey, and with other natural scents.
