yasyÄnurÄga-lalita-smita-valgu-mantra
lÄ«lÄvaloka-parirambhaṇa-rÄsa-goá¹£á¹hÄm
nÄ«tÄḥ sma naḥ ká¹£aṇam iva ká¹£aṇadÄ vinÄ taá¹
gopyaḥ kathaṠnv atitarema tamo durantam
yasya - whose; anurÄga - with loving affection; lalita - charming; smita - (where there were) smiles; valgu - attractive; mantra - intimate discussions; lÄ«lÄ - playful; avaloka - glances; parirambhaṇa - and embraces; rÄsa - of the rÄsa dance; goá¹£á¹hÄm - to the assembly; nÄ«tÄḥ sma - who were brought; naḥ - for us; ká¹£aṇam - a moment; iva - like; ká¹£aṇadÄḥ - the nights; vinÄ - without; tam - Him; gopyaḥ - O gopÄ«s; katham - how; nu - indeed; atitarema - will we cross over; tamaḥ - the darkness; durantam - insurmountable.
For the gopīs, a long time in Kṛṣṇa’s association passed like a moment, and a single moment in His absence seemed like a very long time.
