Purport

According to ÅšrÄ«la JÄ«va GosvÄmÄ«, Lord Kṛṣṇa sang many wonderful melodies and meters, and the gopÄ«s accompanied Him, following His lead. Kṛṣṇa’s singing on this occasion is described in the ÅšrÄ« Viṣṇu PurÄṇa:

kṛṣṇaḥ Å›arac-candramasaá¹
 kaumudīṠkumudÄkaram
jagau gopÄ«-janas tv ekaá¹
 kṛṣṇa-nÄma punaḥ punaḥ

“Kṛṣṇa sang the glories of the autumn moon, the moonshine and the lotus-filled river, while the gopÄ«s simply sang His name repeatedly.â€
