vraje vikrÄ«á¸ator evaá¹
gopÄla-cchadma-mÄyayÄ
grīṣmo nÄmartur abhavan
nÄti-preyÄñ charÄ«riṇÄm
vraje - in Vá¹›ndÄvana; vikrÄ«á¸atoḥ - while the two of Them were sporting; evam - in this way; gopÄla - as cowherd boys; chadma - of the disguise; mÄyayÄ - by the illusion; grīṣmaḥ - summer; nÄma - thus designated; á¹›tuḥ - the season; abhavat - came about; na - not; ati-preyÄn - very much favored; Å›arÄ«riṇÄm - by embodied beings.
In Chapter Eighteen, of Kṛṣṇa, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, ÅšrÄ«la PrabhupÄda comments as follows: “The summer season in India is not very much welcomed because of the excessive heat, but in Vá¹›ndÄvana everyone was pleased because summer there appeared just like spring.â€
