vidyā - knowledge; vinaya - gentleness; sampanne - endowed with; brāhmaṇe - unto a brāhmaṇa; gavi - unto a cow; hastini - unto an elephant; śuni - unto a dog; ca - and; eva - also; śva-pāke - unto a dog-eater; ca - also; paṇḍitāḥ - those who are actually learned in spiritual understanding; sama-darśinaḥ - equipoised.

“ ‘The humble sages, by virtue of true knowledge, see with equal vision a learned and gentle brāhmaṇa, a cow, an elephant, a dog and a dog-eater.’
