sabÄra caraṇa-ká¹›pÄ — 'guru upÄdhyÄyÄ«'
mora vÄṇī — Å›iá¹£yÄ, tÄre bahuta nÄcÄi
sabÄra - of all of them; caraṇa-ká¹›pÄ - the mercy of the lotus feet; guru upÄdhyÄyÄ« - my teacher of Vedic instruction; mora vÄṇī - my words; Å›iá¹£yÄ - the disciples; tÄre - them; bahuta nÄcÄi - I made dance in various ways.
UpÄdhyÄyÄ«, or upÄdhyÄya, refers to one who teaches when approached (upetya adhÄ«yate asmÄt). In the Manu-saá¹hitÄ it is said:
eka-deÅ›aá¹ tu vedasya vedÄá¹…gÄny api vÄ punaḥ
yo ’dhyÄpayati vá¹›tty-artham upÄdhyÄyaḥ sa ucyate
“One who teaches others a part of the Vedas or literatures supplementary to the Vedas may be called upÄdhyÄya.†UpÄdhyÄya also refers to one who teaches art.
