 jagat-mÄtÄ - the mother of the universe; mahÄ-laká¹£mÄ« - the supreme goddess of fortune; sÄ«tÄ-á¹­hÄkurÄṇī - mother SÄ«tÄ; rÄká¹£ase - the demon RÄvaṇa; sparÅ›ila - touched; tÄá¹…re - her; ihÄ - this; kÄne Å›uni - I have heard.

“My dear Sir, mother SÄ«tÄ is the mother of the universe and the supreme goddess of fortune. She has been touched by the demon RÄvaṇa, and I am troubled upon hearing this news.
