uttamaḥśloka-lÄ«layÄ
gá¹›hÄ«ta-cetÄ rÄjará¹£e
ÄkhyÄnaá¹ yad adhÄ«tavÄn

 pariniṣṭhitaḥ - situated; api - although; nairguṇye - in the transcendental position, freed from the material modes of nature; uttamaḥ-Å›loka-lÄ«layÄ - by the pastimes of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Uttamaḥśloka; gá¹›hÄ«ta-cetÄḥ - the mind became fully taken over; rÄjÄ-ṛṣe - O great King; ÄkhyÄnam - the narration; yat - which; adhÄ«tavÄn - studied.

“[Åšukadeva GosvÄmÄ« addressed ParÄ«ká¹£it MahÄrÄja:] ‘My dear King, although I was fully situated in the transcendental position, I was nonetheless attracted to the pastimes of Lord Kṛṣṇa. Therefore I studied ÅšrÄ«mad-BhÄgavatam from my father.’
