Text

When Balabhadra Bhaá¹á¹ÄcÄrya asked to see Kṛṣṇa at KÄlÄ«ya-daha, ÅšrÄ« Caitanya MahÄprabhu mercifully slapped him, saying, “You are a learned scholar, but you have become a fool, being influenced by the statements of other fools.

Purport

MÄyÄ is so strong that even a person like Balabhadra Bhaá¹á¹ÄcÄrya, who was constantly staying with ÅšrÄ« Caitanya MahÄprabhu, was influenced by the words of fools. He wanted to see Kṛṣṇa directly by going to KÄlÄ«ya-daha, but ÅšrÄ« Caitanya MahÄprabhu, being the original spiritual master, would not allow His servant to fall into such foolishness. He therefore chastised him, slapping him just to bring him to a real sense of Kṛṣṇa consciousness.
