bhaášášÄcÄrya tabe kahe prabhura caraáše
'ÄjĂąÄ deha', yÄi' kari kášášŁáša daraĹane!'
bhaášášÄcÄrya - Balabhadra BhaášášÄcÄrya; tabe - at that time; kahe - says; prabhura caraáše - at the lotus feet of ĹrÄŤ Caitanya MahÄprabhu; ÄjĂąÄ deha' - please give permission; yÄi' - going; kari kášášŁáša daraĹane - I shall see Lord KášášŁáša directly.
The puzzled people who visited ĹrÄŤ Caitanya MahÄprabhu were actually seeing Lord KášášŁáša, but they were mistaken in thinking that Lord KášášŁáša had come to KÄlÄŤya Lake. They all said that they had seen KášášŁáša directly performing His pastimes on the hoods of the serpent KÄlÄŤya and that the jewels on KÄlÄŤyaâs hoods were blazing brilliantly. Because they were speculating with their imperfect knowledge, they saw ĹrÄŤ Caitanya MahÄprabhu as an ordinary human being and a boatmanâs light in the lake as KášášŁáša. One must see things as they are through the mercy of a spiritual master; otherwise, if one tries to see KášášŁáša directly, he may mistake an ordinary man for KášášŁáša or KášášŁáša for an ordinary man. Everyone has to see KášášŁáša according to the verdict of Vedic literatures presented by the self-realized spiritual master. A sincere person is able to see KášášŁáša through the transparent via medium of ĹrÄŤ Gurudeva, the spiritual master. Unless one is enlightened by the knowledge given by the spiritual master, he cannot see things as they are, even though he remains constantly with the spiritual master. This incident at KÄlÄŤya-daha is very instructive for those eager to advance in KášášŁáša consciousness.
