sva-pÄda-sparÅ›anÄÅ›ayÄ
sakhyopetyÄgrahÄ«t pÄṇiá¹
sÄhaá¹ tad-gá¹›ha-mÄrjanÄ«
tapaḥ - austerity; carantÄ«m - performing; ÄjñÄya - knowing; sva-pÄda-sparÅ›ana - of touching His feet; ÄÅ›ayÄ - with the desire; sakhyÄ - with His friend Arjuna; upetya - coming; agrahÄ«t - accepted; pÄṇim - my hand; sÄ - that woman; aham - I; tat - His; gá¹›ha-mÄrjanÄ« - keeper of the home.
“Knowing me to be performing austerities with the desire to touch His feet, He came with His friend Arjuna and accepted my hand. Yet I am but a maidservant engaged in sweeping the floor of the house of ÅšrÄ« Kṛṣṇa.â€
Like the previous verse, this verse appears in ÅšrÄ«mad-BhÄgavatam (10.83.11) in connection with the meeting of the family ladies of the Kuru and Yadu dynasties at Samanta-pañcaka. At the time of that meeting, the queen of Kṛṣṇa named KÄlindÄ« spoke to DraupadÄ« in this way.
