sukhaá¹ tv idÄnīṠtri-vidhaṠśṛṇu me bharatará¹£abha abhyÄsÄd ramate yatra duḥkhÄntañ cha nigachchhati [36]
yat tad agre viá¹£am iva pariṇÄme ’má¹›topamam
tat sukhaá¹ sÄttvikaá¹ proktam Ätma-buddhi-prasÄda-jam [37]
(he) bharatará¹£abha–O best of the BhÄratas; idÄnÄ«m tu–now; śṛṇu–hear; me–from Me; tri-vidham sukham–about the three kinds of happiness: yatra–that in which; ramate–one delights; abhyÄsÄt–through his practices; nigachchhati cha–and attains; duḥkha-antam–the cessation of unhappiness; yat tat–and that which; agre–initially; viá¹£am iva–is like poison; pariṇÄme–and subsequently; amá¹›ta-upamam–like nectar; tat sukham–such happiness; Ätma-buddhi-prasÄda-jam–born of the purity of self-realisation; proktam–is called; sÄttvikam– happiness of the nature of goodness.
