(jÄ«vaḥ) pralayam gatvÄ–When a person dies; rajasi (pravá¹›ddhe)–with a predominance of the mode of passion; jÄyate–he is born; karmasaá¹…giá¹£u–as a human attached to action. tathÄ–Similarly; pralÄ«naḥ (san)–dying; tamasi (vivá¹›ddhe)–when the mode of ignorance predominates; jÄyate–one takes birth; mÅ«á¸ha-yoniá¹£u–in the lower species. When a person dies in the mode of passion, he takes birth as a human attached to worldly activity. If one dies in the mode of ignorance, he takes birth in the lower species.
