satyavatyÄá¹ parÄÅ›arÄt
cakre veda-taroḥ Å›ÄkhÄ
dṛṣá¹vÄ puá¹so 'lpa-medhasaḥ
The Lord, born from ParÄÅ›ara in the womb of SatyavatÄ« as the seventeenth avatÄra, seeing the meager intelligence of the people, divided up the tree of the Vedas.
Alpa-medhasah means “having small knowledge.â€
