śrī-bhagavān uvāca
brahmaḿs te 'nugrahārthāya
samprāptān viddhy amūn munīn
sañcaranti mayā lokān
punantaḥ pāda-reṇubhiḥ
sri-bhagavan uvaca -- the Supreme Lord said; brahman -- O brahmana; te -- your; anugraha -- of bestowing benedictions; arthaya -- for the purpose; sampraptan -- come; viddhi -- you should know; amun -- these; munin -- sages; sancaranti -- they wander; maya -- together with Me; lokan -- all the worlds; punantah -- purifying; pada -- of their feet; renubhih -- with the dust.
Srila Sridhara Svami explains that Lord Krishna thought Srutadeva had shown too much reverence to Him and not enough to the sages, and thus He turned the brahmana's attention to them.
