Å›rÄ«mad-bhÄgavataá¹ purÄṇam amalaá¹ yad vaiṣṇavÄnÄá¹ priyaá¹
yasmin pÄramahaá¹syam ekam amalaá¹ jñÄnaá¹ paraá¹ gÄ«yate
tatra jñÄna-virÄga-bhakti-sahitaá¹ naiá¹£karmyam Äviská¹›taá¹
tac chṛṇvan su-paá¹han vicÄraṇa-paro bhaktyÄ vimucyen naraḥ
Å›rÄ«mat-bhÄgavatam - ÅšrÄ«mad-BhÄgavatam; purÄṇam - the PurÄṇa; amalam - perfectly pure; yat - which; vaiṣṇavÄnÄm - to the Vaiṣṇavas; priyam - most dear; yasmin - in which; pÄramahaá¹syam - attainable by the topmost devotees; ekam - exclusive; amalam - perfectly pure; jñÄnam - knowledge; param - supreme; gÄ«yate - is sung; tatra - there; jñÄna-virÄga-bhakti-sahitam - together with knowledge, renunciation and devotion; naiá¹£karmyam - freedom from all material work; Äviá¹£ká¹›tam - is revealed; tat - that; śṛṇvan - hearing; su-paá¹han - properly chanting; vicÄraṇa-paraḥ - who is serious about understanding; bhaktyÄ - with devotion; vimucyet - becomes totally liberated; naraḥ - a person.
Because ÅšrÄ«mad-BhÄgavatam is completely free of contamination by the modes of nature, it is endowed with extraordinary spiritual beauty and is therefore dear to the pure devotees of the Lord. The word pÄramahaá¹syam indicates that even completely liberated souls are eager to hear and narrate ÅšrÄ«mad-BhÄgavatam. Those who are trying to be liberated should faithfully serve this literature by hearing and reciting it with faith and devotion.
