श्रीशुक उवाच
तेऽन्योन्यतोऽसुराः पात्रं हरन्तस्त्यक्तसौहृदाः ।
क्षिपन्तो दस्युधर्माण आयान्तीं ददृशुः स्त्रियम् ॥१॥

te 'nyonyato 'surÄḥ pÄtraá¹
harantas tyakta-sauhá¹›dÄḥ
ká¹£ipanto dasyu-dharmÄṇa
ÄyÄntīṠdadṛśuḥ striyam

 Å›rÄ«-Å›ukaḥ uvÄca - ÅšrÄ« Åšukadeva GosvÄmÄ« said; te - the demons; anyonyataḥ - among themselves; asurÄḥ - the demons; pÄtram - the container of nectar; harantaḥ - snatching from one another; tyakta-sauhá¹›dÄḥ - became inimical toward one another; ká¹£ipantaḥ - sometimes throwing; dasyu-dharmÄṇaḥ - sometimes snatching like robbers; ÄyÄntÄ«m - coming forward; dadṛśuḥ - saw; striyam - a very beautiful and attractive woman.

Åšukadeva GosvÄmÄ« said: Thereafter, the demons became inimical toward one another. Throwing and snatching the container of nectar, they gave up their friendly relationship. Meanwhile, they saw a very beautiful young woman coming forward toward them.
