पुंसोऽयं संसृतेर्हेतुरसन्तोषोऽर्थकामयोः ।
यदृच्छयोपपन्नेन संतोषो मुक्तये स्मृतः ॥२५॥

puá¹so 'yaá¹ saá¹sá¹›ter hetur
asantoá¹£o 'rtha-kÄmayoḥ
yadá¹›cchayopapannena
santoṣo muktaye smṛtaḥ

 puá¹saḥ - of the living entity; ayam - this; saá¹sá¹›teḥ - of the continuation of material existence; hetuḥ - the cause; asantoá¹£aḥ - dissatisfaction with his destined achievement; artha-kÄmayoḥ - for the sake of lusty desires and getting more and more money; yadá¹›cchayÄ - with the gift of destiny; upapannena - which has been achieved; santoá¹£aḥ - satisfaction; muktaye - for liberation; smá¹›taḥ - is considered fit.

Material existence causes discontent in regard to fulfilling one’s lusty desires and achieving more and more money. This is the cause for the continuation of material life, which is full of repeated birth and death. But one who is satisfied by that which is obtained by destiny is fit for liberation from this material existence.
