sa vÄ ayaáš brahma mahad-vimášgya-
kaivalya-nirvÄáša-sukhÄnubhĹŤtiḼ
priyaḼ suhášd vaḼ khalu mÄtuleya
ÄtmÄrhaášÄŤyo vidhi-kášd guruĹ ca
saḼ - that (Supreme Personality of Godhead, KášášŁáša); vÄ - also; ayam - this; brahma - the impersonal Brahman (which is an emanation from KášášŁáša); mahat - by great personalities; vimášgya - searched for; kaivalya - oneness; nirvÄáša-sukha - of transcendental happiness; anubhĹŤtiḼ - the source of practical experience; priyaḼ - very, very dear; suhášt - well-wisher; vaḼ - of you; khalu - indeed; mÄtuleyaḼ - the son of a maternal uncle; ÄtmÄ - exactly like body and soul together; arhaášÄŤyaḼ - worshipable (because He is the Supreme Personality of Godhead); vidhi-kášt - (yet He serves you as) an order carrier; guruḼ - your supreme advisor; ca - as well.
There is always a difference of opinion about the Absolute Truth. One class of transcendentalists concludes that the Absolute Truth is impersonal, and another class concludes that the Absolute Truth is a person. In Bhagavad-gÄŤtÄ, the Absolute Truth is accepted as the Supreme Person. Indeed, that Supreme Person Himself, Lord KášášŁáša, instructs in Bhagavad-gÄŤtÄ, brahmaášo hi pratiᚣášhÄham, mattaḼ parataraáš nÄnyat. âThe impersonal Brahman is My partial manifestation, and there is no truth superior to Me.â That same KášášŁáša, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, acted as the supreme friend and relative of the PÄášá¸avas, and sometimes He even acted as their servant by carrying a letter from the PÄášá¸avas to DháštarÄᚣášra and Duryodhana. Because KášášŁáša was the well-wisher of the PÄášá¸avas, He also acted as guru by becoming the spiritual master of Arjuna. Arjuna accepted KášášŁáša as his spiritual master (Ĺiᚣyas te âhaáš ĹÄdhi mÄáš tvÄáš prapannam), and KášášŁáša sometimes chastised him. For example, the Lord said, aĹocyÄn anvaĹocas tvaáš prajĂąÄ-vÄdÄášĹ ca bhÄᚣase: âWhile speaking learned words, you are mourning for what is not worthy of grief.â The Lord also said, kutas tvÄ kaĹmalam idaáš viᚣame samupasthitam: âMy dear Arjuna, how have these impurities come upon you?â Such was the intimate relationship between the PÄášá¸avas and KášášŁáša. In the same way, a pure devotee of the Lord is always with KášášŁáša through thick and thin; his way of life is KášášŁáša. This is the statement of the authority ĹrÄŤ NÄrada Muni.
