वाल्मीकिश्च महायोगी वल्मीकादभवत्किल ।
अगस्त्यश्च वसिष्ठश्च मित्रावरुणयोरृषी ॥५॥

vÄlmÄ«kiÅ› ca mahÄ-yogÄ«
valmÄ«kÄd abhavat kila
agastyaś ca vasiṣṭhaś ca
mitrÄ-varuṇayor ṛṣī

 vÄlmÄ«kiḥ - VÄlmÄ«ki; ca - and; mahÄ-yogÄ« - the great mystic; valmÄ«kÄt - from an anthill; abhavat - took birth; kila - indeed; agastyaḥ - Agastya; ca - and; vasiṣṭhaḥ - Vasiṣṭha; ca - also; mitrÄ-varuṇayoḥ - of Mitra and Varuṇa; á¹›á¹£Ä« - the two sages.


Text

By the semen of Varuṇa, the great mystic VÄlmÄ«ki took birth from an anthill. Bhá¹›gu and VÄlmÄ«ki were specific sons of Varuṇa, whereas Agastya and Vasiṣṭha Ṛṣis were the common sons of Varuṇa and Mitra, the tenth son of Aditi.
