छिन्नपक्षो यथा गोत्रः खाद्भ्रष्टो वज्रिणा हतः ॥२६॥

babhau rakta-sravo 'suraḥ
chinna-paká¹£o yathÄ gotraḥ
khÄd bhraá¹£á¹o vajriá¹‡Ä hataḥ
dorbhyÄm - from the two arms; utká¹›tta-mÅ«lÄbhyÄm - cut from the very root; babhau - was; rakta-sravaḥ - profusely discharging blood; asuraḥ - Vá¹›trÄsura; chinna-paká¹£aḥ - whose wings are cut; yathÄ - just as; gotraḥ - a mountain; khÄt - from the sky; bhraá¹£á¹aḥ - falling; vajriá¹‡Ä - by Indra, the carrier of the thunderbolt; hataḥ - struck.
Vá¹›trÄsura, bleeding profusely, his two arms cut off at their roots, looked very beautiful, like a flying mountain whose wings have been cut to pieces by Indra.
It appears from the statement of this verse that sometimes there are flying mountains and that their wings are cut by the thunderbolt of Indra. Vá¹›trÄsura’s huge body resembled such a mountain.
