एवं दक्षिणेनेलावृतं निषधो हेमकूटो हिमालय इति प्रागायता यथा नीलादयो

 evam - thus; daká¹£iṇena - by degrees to the southern side; ilÄvá¹›tam - of IlÄvá¹›ta-vará¹£a; niá¹£adhaḥ hema-kūṭaḥ himÄlayaḥ - three mountains named Niá¹£adha, Hemakūṭa and HimÄlaya; iti - thus; prÄk-ÄyatÄḥ - extended to the east; yathÄ - just as; nÄ«la-Ädayaḥ - the mountains headed by NÄ«la; ayuta-yojana-utsedhÄḥ - ten thousand yojanas high; hari-vará¹£a - the division named Hari-vará¹£a; kimpuruá¹£a - the division named Kimpuruá¹£a; bhÄratÄnÄm - the division named BhÄrata-vará¹£a; yathÄ-saá¹…khyam - according to number.

Similarly, south of IlÄvá¹›ta-vará¹£a and extending from east to west are three great mountains named (from north to south) Niá¹£adha, Hemakūṭa and HimÄlaya. Each of them is 10,000 yojanas [80,000 miles] high. They mark the boundaries of the three vará¹£as named Hari-vará¹£a, Kimpuruá¹£a-vará¹£a and BhÄrata-vará¹£a [India].
