एवं दाक्षायणी हित्वा सती पूर्वकलेवरम् ।
जज्ञे हिमवतः क्षेत्रे मेनायामिति शुश्रुम ॥५८॥

evaá¹ dÄká¹£Äyaṇī hitvÄ
satī pūrva-kalevaram
jajñe himavataḥ kṣetre
menÄyÄm iti Å›uÅ›ruma

 evam - thus; dÄká¹£Äyaṇī - the daughter of Daká¹£a; hitvÄ - after giving up; satÄ« - SatÄ«; pÅ«rva-kalevaram - her former body; jajñe - was born; himavataḥ - of the Himalayas; ká¹£etre - in the wife; menÄyÄm - in MenÄ; iti - thus; Å›uÅ›ruma - I have heard.


Text

Maitreya said: I have heard that after giving up the body she had received from Daká¹£a, DÄká¹£Äyaṇī (his daughter) took her birth in the kingdom of the HimÄlayas. She was born as the daughter of MenÄ. I heard this from authoritative sources.

Purport

MenÄ is also known as MenakÄ and is the wife of the king of the HimÄlayas.
