ततोऽतिकायस्तनुवा स्पृशन्दिवं
सहस्रबाहुर्घनरुक्त्रिसूर्यदृक् ।
करालदंष्ट्रो ज्वलदग्निमूर्धजः
कपालमाली विविधोद्यतायुधः ॥३॥

tato 'tikÄyas tanuvÄ spṛśan divaá¹
sahasra-bÄhur ghana-ruk tri-sÅ«rya-dá¹›k
karÄla-daá¹á¹£á¹­ro jvalad-agni-mÅ«rdhajaḥ
kapÄla-mÄlÄ« vividhodyatÄyudhaḥ

 tataḥ - at this time; atikÄyaḥ - a great personality (VÄ«rabhadra); tanuvÄ - with his body; spṛśan - touching; divam - the sky; sahasra - a thousand; bÄhuḥ - arms; ghana-ruk - of black color; tri-sÅ«rya-dá¹›k - as bright as three suns combined; karÄla-daá¹á¹£á¹­raḥ - having very fearful teeth; jvalat-agni - (like) burning fire; mÅ«rdhajaḥ - having hair on his head; kapÄla-mÄlÄ« - garlanded with men's heads; vividha - various kinds; udyata - upraised; Äyudhaḥ - equipped with weapons.

A fearful black demon as high as the sky and as bright as three suns combined was thereby created, his teeth very fearful and the hairs on his head like burning fire. He had thousands of arms, equipped with various weapons, and he was garlanded with the heads of men.
