मैत्रेय उवाच
जनेषु प्रगृणत्स्वेवं पृथुं पृथुलविक्रमम् ।
तत्रोपजग्मुर्मुनयश्चत्वारः सूर्यवर्चसः ॥१॥

catvÄraḥ sÅ«rya-varcasaḥ

 maitreyaḥ uvÄca - the great sage Maitreya continued to speak; janeá¹£u - the citizens; pragṛṇatsu - while praying for; evam - thus; pá¹›thum - unto MahÄrÄja Pá¹›thu; pá¹›thula - highly; vikramam - powerful; tatra - there; upajagmuḥ - arrived; munayaḥ - the KumÄras; catvÄraḥ - four; sÅ«rya - as the sun; varcasaḥ - bright.

The great sage Maitreya said: While the citizens were thus praying to the most powerful King Pá¹›thu, the four KumÄras, who were as bright as the sun, arrived on the spot.
