सन्धीयमान एतस्मिन्माया गुह्यकनिर्मिताः ।
क्षिप्रं विनेशुर्विदुर क्लेशा ज्ञानोदये यथा ॥२॥

sandhÄ«yamÄna etasmin
mÄyÄ guhyaka-nirmitÄḥ
kṣipraṠvineśur vidura
kleÅ›Ä jñÄnodaye yathÄ

 sandhÄ«yamÄne - while joining to his bow; etasmin - this nÄrÄrayaṇÄstra; mÄyÄḥ - the illusions; guhyaka-nirmitÄḥ - created by the Yaká¹£as; ká¹£ipram - very soon; vineÅ›uḥ - were destroyed; vidura - O Vidura; kleÅ›Äḥ - illusory pains and pleasures; jñÄna-udaye - upon the arising of knowledge; yathÄ - just as.

As soon as Dhruva MahÄrÄja joined the nÄrÄyaṇÄstra arrow to his bow, the illusion created by the Yaká¹£as was immediately vanquished, just as all material pains and pleasures are vanquished when one becomes fully cognizant of the self.

Purport

Kṛṣṇa is like the sun, and mÄyÄ, or the illusory energy of Kṛṣṇa, is like darkness. Darkness means absence of light; similarly, mÄyÄ means absence of Kṛṣṇa consciousness. Kṛṣṇa consciousness and mÄyÄ are always there, side by side. As soon as there is awakening of Kṛṣṇa consciousness, all the illusory pains and pleasures of material existence are vanquished. MÄyÄm etÄá¹ taranti te: constant chanting of the mahÄ-mantra will keep us always aloof from the illusory energy of mÄyÄ.
