श्रीशुक उवाच
निशम्य कौषारविणोपवर्णितां
हरेः कथां कारणसूकरात्मनः ।
पुनः स पप्रच्छ तमुद्यताञ्जलि
र्न चातितृप्तो विदुरो धृतव्रतः ॥१॥

Å›rÄ«-Å›uka uvÄca
niÅ›amya kauá¹£ÄraviṇopavarṇitÄá¹
hareḥ kathÄá¹ kÄraṇa-sÅ«karÄtmanaḥ
punaḥ sa papraccha tam udyatÄñjalir
na cÄtitá¹›pto viduro dhá¹›ta-vrataḥ

 Å›rÄ«-Å›ukaḥ uvÄca - ÅšrÄ« Åšukadeva GosvÄmÄ« said; niÅ›amya - after hearing; kauá¹£Äraviá¹‡Ä - by the sage Maitreya; upavarṇitÄm - described; hareḥ - of the Personality of Godhead; kathÄm - narrations; kÄraṇa - for the reason of lifting the earth; sÅ«kara-Ätmanaḥ - of the boar incarnation; punaḥ - again; saḥ - he; papraccha - inquired; tam - from him (Maitreya); udyata-añjaliḥ - with folded hands; na - never; ca - also; ati-tá¹›ptaḥ - very much satisfied; viduraḥ - Vidura; dhá¹›ta-vrataḥ - taken to a vow.

Åšukadeva GosvÄmÄ« said: After hearing from the great sage Maitreya about the Lord’s incarnation as VarÄha, Vidura, who had taken a vow, begged him with folded hands to please narrate further transcendental activities of the Lord, since he [Vidura] did not yet feel satisfied.
