cakre vÄlÄyanir bhajyaḥ
kÄÅ›ÄraÅ› caiva tÄá¹ dadhuḥ

 bÄá¹£kaliḥ - BÄá¹£kali, the son of BÄá¹£kala; prati-Å›ÄkhÄbhyaḥ - from all the different branches; vÄlakhilya-Äkhya - entitled VÄlakhilya; saá¹hitÄm - the collection; cakre - he made; vÄlÄyaniḥ - VÄlÄyani; bhajyaḥ - Bhajya; kÄÅ›Äraḥ - KÄÅ›Ära; ca - and; eva - indeed; tÄm - that; dadhuḥ - they accepted.


Text

BÄá¹£kali assembled the VÄlakhilya-saá¹hitÄ, a collection from all the branches of the Ṛg Veda. This collection was received by VÄlÄyani, Bhajya and KÄÅ›Ära.

Purport

According to ÅšrÄ«la ÅšrÄ«dhara SvÄmÄ«, VÄlÄyani, Bhajya and KÄÅ›Ära belonged to the Daitya community.
