etÄḥ kuru-Å›reṣṭha jagad-vidhÄtur
nÄrÄyaṇasyÄkhila-sattva-dhÄmnaḥ
lÄ«lÄ-kathÄs te kathitÄḥ samÄsataḥ
kÄrtsnyena nÄjo 'py abhidhÄtum īśaḥ

 etÄḥ - these; kuru-Å›reṣṭha - O best of the Kurus; jagat-vidhÄtuḥ - of the creator of the universe; nÄrÄyaṇasya - of Lord NÄrÄyaṇa; akhila-sattva-dhÄmnaḥ - the reservoir of all existences; lÄ«lÄ-kathÄḥ - the pastime narrations; te - to you; kathitÄḥ - have been related; samÄsataḥ - in summary; kÄrtsnyena - entirely; na - not; ajaḥ - unborn BrahmÄ; api - even; abhidhÄtum - to enumerate; Ä«Å›aḥ - is capable.

O best of the Kurus, I have related to you these narrations of the pastimes of Lord NÄrÄyaṇa, the creator of this world and the ultimate reservoir of all existence, presenting them to you only in brief summary. Even Lord BrahmÄ himself would be incapable of describing them entirely.
