etair doá¹£air vihÄ«nÄya
brahmaṇyÄya priyÄya ca
sÄdhave Å›ucaye brÅ«yÄd
bhaktiḥ syÄc chÅ«dra-yoá¹£itÄm

 etaiḥ - of these; doá¹£aiḥ - faulty qualities; vihÄ«nÄya - to the person who is devoid; brahmaṇyÄya - to one dedicated to the welfare of the brÄhmaṇas; priyÄya - kindly disposed; ca - and; sÄdhave - saintly; Å›ucaye - pure; brÅ«yÄt - one should speak; bhaktiḥ - devotion; syÄt - if it is present; Å›Å«dra - of the common workers; yoá¹£itÄm - and women.


Text

This knowledge should be taught to one who is free from these bad qualities, who is dedicated to the welfare of the brÄhmaṇas, and who is kindly disposed, saintly and pure. And if common workers and women are found to have devotion for the Supreme Lord, they are also to be accepted as qualified hearers.
