Å›rÄ«-bhagavÄn uvÄca
bÄrhaspatya sa nÄsty atra
sÄdhur vai durjaneritaiḥ
duraktair bhinnam ÄtmÄnaá¹
yaḥ samÄdhÄtum īśvaraḥ
Å›rÄ«-bhagavÄn uvÄca - the Supreme Personality of Godhead said; bÄrhaspatya - O disciple of Bá¹›haspati; saḥ - he; na asti - there is not; atra - in this world; sÄdhuḥ - a saintly person; vai - indeed; durjana - by uncivilized men; Ä«ritaiḥ - used; duruktaiḥ - by insulting words; bhinnam - disturbed; ÄtmÄnam - his mind; yaḥ - who; samÄdhÄtum - to compose; īśvaraḥ - is capable.
In the modern age there is widespread propaganda ridiculing the path of spiritual realization, and thus even saintly devotees are disturbed to see the progress of human society being obstructed. Still, a devotee of the Lord must tolerate any personal insult, though he cannot tolerate offense against the Lord Himself or the Lord’s pure devotee.
