nirÄ«ká¹£ya paÅ›cÄt sutam Ägamac chanaiḥ
ulÅ«khala-aá¹…ghreḥ - of the mortar in which spices were ground and which was being kept upside down; upari - on top; vyavasthitam - Kṛṣṇa was sitting; markÄya - unto a monkey; kÄmam - according to His satisfaction; dadatam - delivering shares; Å›ici sthitam - situated in the butter pot hanging on the swing; haiyaá¹…gavam - butter and other milk preparations; caurya-viÅ›aá¹…kita - because of stealing, were anxiously looking hither and thither; Ä«ká¹£aṇam - whose eyes; nirÄ«ká¹£ya - by seeing these activities; paÅ›cÄt - from behind; sutam - her son; Ägamat - she reached; Å›anaiḥ - very slowly, cautiously.
Mother YaÅ›odÄ was able to trace Kṛṣṇa by following His butter-smeared footprints. She saw that Kṛṣṇa was stealing butter, and thus she smiled. Meanwhile, the crows also entered the room and came out in fear. Thus mother YaÅ›odÄ found Kṛṣṇa stealing butter and very anxiously looking here and there.
